White Fish
- The Trent River has the best
whitefish run of Lake Ontario streams. The run usually peaks near the end of
October. Most people fish at Number 1 Dam in Trenton.
- Trent River. There are two
parking lots on either side of the dam. The one situated on the main road to
the west, is located right at the canal exit. If you park here you have to
pay, and walk down the canal for about 5-10 minutes. On the east side of the
dam, there's a bunch of factories, and a gov't parking lot. Here you're a
stone's throw away from the river.
- Try jigs in the 1/8 to1/4 ounce range with the
smallest hooks you can find and a matching small white or yellow curly tail or
shad style trailer. These fish will also take roe, yarn flies, and most flies
you would use for steelhead. Just rig them up under a float and fish them just
as you would for bows. Make sure your offering is as close to the bottom as
possible.
